Classroom Central's Free Store is one of four programs we have for reaching students in poverty.  It is the largest program and allows educators in high-needs schools to shop for free school supplies for their students who cannot afford them.

We serve six school districts which include Charlotte Mecklenburg, Iredell-Statesville, Gaston, The City of Kannapolis and Union, in NC and Lancaster, SC.   Through these districts, we serve 135,000 students, 9,000 educator and over 200 schools.

We are open for Teacher Shopping on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during the school year.  Teachers can sign up for one hour shifts and they are given a list of what is available to take for that day.  Volunteers help check them out.

The store goes through quite a transition throughout the week.  For example, the below two photos show what the shelves look like just before teachers arrive....

It takes a small army of volunteers to re-stock each day, so we are grateful for their commitments.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Risa Brandon at risa@classroomcentral.org.

Our other programs include Classroom Up, the Mobile Free Store, and Backpacks & Basics.
