We are excited to announce our new Board Chair will be T.J. Hooper. Below, we spotlight T.J and welcome him as the 2014-2015 Classroom Central Board Chair!
Length of time on the board:
5 years, including one year as Vice-Chair
Why you serve on the board at Classroom Central?
We need the students in our community that are living at or near poverty to have every resource available to succeed in school because we know education is the key to their success. I serve on the board because I firmly believe that Classroom Central fills a critical, unmet need to supply these students with the essential tools that are required for learning. When we ensure the success of our students, we are ensuring the success of our community.
What is your proudest accomplishment serving on the board?
The weekly interaction with the amazing Classroom Central staff. Their commitment to our mission and the children and teachers our organization serves is just unbelievable. I am proud to be associated with such a fine group of people.
What do you wish the community knew about Classroom Central?
I wish everyone in our community understood the challenges faced by students living at or near poverty. When a student has the tools he or she needs to succeed in the classroom, it dramatically impacts their attitude, preparedness, self-esteem and confidence – all critical to success.
